TWEED holds its first Summer School at TU Delft

The first Summer School of the TWEED Doctoral Network was successfully held last week at TU Delft (The Netherlands), bringing together doctoral candidates, supervisors, and leading experts in wind energy.

This training event marked a major milestone for the project, combining high-level lectures, practical sessions, and networking activities. The programme included a comprehensive set of topics addressing the key technical challenges of the digitalisation of wind energy, ranging from turbine performance and structural dynamics to wind resource assessment, control strategies, electrical aspects, reliability, health monitoring, and wind farm layout optimisation.

Throughout the week, fellows also engaged in hands-on exercises such as the design of wind farm layouts, strengthening the connection between theoretical training and practical application.

Beyond the lectures, the Summer School served as a platform for exchange and collaboration, reinforcing the project’s commitment to excellence under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Networks.

By combining technical knowledge, interdisciplinary training, and international collaboration, this event contributes to preparing a new generation of researchers equipped to advance the digital transformation of wind energy and support the EU’s transition towards a more sustainable future.

Speakers included:

  • Prof. Simon Watson (TU Delft)

  • Prof. Michael Muskulus (NTNU)

  • Prof. Vasilis Riziotis (NTUA)

  • Prof. Carlo Bottasso (TU Munich)

  • Prof. Julio J. Melero (University of Zaragoza)

  • Prof. Maik Reader (ANNEA)

  • Prof. Ju Feng (DTU)
